ABOUT

A little about me and how I ended up photographing weddings for a living…
I actually started with a camera while skiing with my friends at Crystal Mountain in Washington State. They started jumping from cliffs a little higher than I ever had any desire to fling myself off of….so I decided to grab a camera and document their exploits from a less limb endangering vantage point below.
In college I picked up a book by the late adventure photographer, Galen Rowell. The book, “Mountain Light”, inspired me to blend my photography with my love of the outdoors and first gave me the thought of possibly one day doing photography for a living. I then received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and started a career that lasted all of about 6 months out of school. I didn’t love what I was doing and there was a very large creative void growing in my mind. So I quit my job, packed my old Toyota 4Runner and moved to Southern California and had no idea what was next for me. After working in a coffee shop for a bit, I assisted with a wedding photographer and was hooked! I saw a path forming for my new career…a path that would allow me to be creative, own my own business and actually enjoy what I do. That was 2002. All this time later and I still love what I do. I get to see people enjoy one of the best days of their lives in always new and unique ways and I get to be creative while being an intimate part of their wedding day. Not to mention, I end up with a lot of crazy stories!
I have to thank my beautiful wife, Sara, for the continuous support she provides while we raise our daughter Finley June and son Boston Metier. We met playing indoor soccer. It was a flirtatious rivalry that eventually turned into more and shortly after I started one of the best chapters of my life.
So please enjoy all the images in my galleries and don’t hesitate to contact me to set up a meeting to discuss your upcoming wedding or schedule a photo shoot for your family or children.
